How I Became a Long Armer

I started quilting about 5 years ago. I quickly learned that I didn't want to quilt on my domestic machine, so I sent a quilt top off to be edge-to-edge long armed. The result was so beautiful, I knew I wanted to learn how to do that.

So, 4 years ago I bought my first long arm. It was a Baby Lock Cornet on a 5-foot frame. I added Pro Stitcher and taught myself how to use it to create beautiful edge-to-edge quilting. Again, I loved the edge-to-edge results but was hampered by the diminutive size of the frame and throat space. All the work I did on it was for myself but my quilt tops were getting larger and larger as my confidence grew. That led me to trade up to the Baby Lock Regalia with Pro Stitcher on a 10-foot frame. This gave me the confidence to do edge-to-edge long arming for my friends and the next thing you know I am long arming for others in the three quilt guilds I belong to. And that's what led to me long arming the 15 foot in diameter tree skirt for the 2025 National Christmas tree that graced the lawn of the White House. That huge tree skirt, a couple of king-sized quilts, and a request to do an Alaskan king quilt pushed me to expand my frame to 12 feet.

I thought making quilt tops would be my passion, and I love doing that, but edge-to-edge long arming on my Baby Lock Regalia is truly my passion. I hope you'll invite me to help you create something beautiful.
